Ms. Sonia Ben Khalifa, General Representative of Tunisia to International Congress SHIELD – Africa Commission, and Member of the International Diplomatic Council, took part in coordinating a significant economic meeting hosted in Sfax, within the framework of supporting economic diplomacy and enhancing openness to international markets.
Mr. Abdelatif El Zayani, President of the International Exhibitions and Conferences Association, received His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Tunisia, in the presence of numerous economic and academic leaders, as well as professional bodies, including:
- Mr. Habib Hammami, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax
- Mr. Ahmed Haj Kacem, President of the University of Sfax
- Ms. Soumaya Zakhama, Director of the Export Promotion Center in Sfax
- Mr. Mohamed Ben Amor Chlago, President of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries
- Ms. Noura Mekki, Representative of the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation
- Representatives of CONNECT Sfax and several economic actors involved in export sectors linked to the Turkish market
The meeting brought together participants from diverse sectors including trade, textiles, agri-food industries, logistics services, maritime transport, technology, and semi-medical equipment. This broad representation gave the session a practical and interactive character, reflecting the shared ambition to strengthen economic cooperation with Turkey.
Discussions focused on investment opportunities and bilateral partnerships between Tunisia and Turkey, highlighting the key challenges facing Tunisian enterprises in the field of exports and exploring practical solutions to enhance their competitiveness. The initiative to establish the “International Business Center” was officially announced as a platform aimed at bringing together regional economic stakeholders, strengthening networking efforts, and facilitating access to foreign markets.
The Turkish Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s readiness to support economic and scientific cooperation programs and to promote the exchange of expertise, thereby reinforcing the presence of Tunisian enterprises in the Turkish market and opening new prospects for joint investment.
