Brussels, Belgium – July 23, 2025
In a newly released report, the International Congress SHIELD revealed one of the most horrifying humanitarian disasters of the modern era. Based on field sources and international expert organizations, it is estimated that the Israeli military has dropped nearly 100,000 tons of explosives and missiles on the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the ongoing war, a territory of just 365 square kilometers.
Nuclear-Level Bombardment: Numbers Beyond Imagination
According to field and statistical analysis, this translates to an average of 274 kilograms of explosives per square meter, and over 41 kilograms per individual in Gaza.
Based on standard munition weights ranging from 250 kg to 1 ton, the number of bombs and missiles dropped is estimated between 200,000 to 400,000 explosive devices.
Investigations and rights reports confirm that a significant portion of these weapons included internationally banned materials, such as:
- White phosphorus, used in densely populated civilian areas, causes severe burns and widespread fires.
- Thermobaric (fuel-air) bombs, known for their devastating blast effects over wide areas, are intended for full-scale warfare, not civilian zones.
- Cluster munitions, which scatter submunitions across vast areas, continuing to kill and maim even after attacks cease.
- Blast bombs, designed to collapse buildings without warning, causing lethal internal injuries.
Rescue teams and human rights monitors have documented the aftermath of these weapons on victims’ bodies and targeted structures, further substantiating evidence of systematic and illegal warfare tactics used against civilians.
Comprehensive Destruction Targeting All Essentials of Life
International Congress SHIELD described the situation in Gaza as a “systematic genocide” and a “fully-fledged crime against humanity,” emphasizing that the devastation extended far beyond individuals — striking at the very foundations of life.
The relentless bombardment has caused near-total destruction of infrastructure, including main roads, bridges, sewage systems, and power stations.
Deliberate attacks also targeted:
- Hospitals and health centers have led to the collapse of the healthcare system amid severe shortages of medicines and equipment.
- Universities and schools, with many educational institutions fully destroyed, depriving hundreds of thousands of students of their right to education.
- UNRWA facilities, which had sheltered refugees, now lie in ruins.
- Places of worship, both mosques and churches, were struck in blatant disregard of religious and humanitarian sanctity.
- Bakeries and food warehouses, worsening hunger and food scarcity.
- Water and electricity networks, resulting in near-total paralysis of basic services — leaving residents in darkness, thirst, and without access to hygiene.
Over 2 million people are now trapped in a tiny enclave, struggling to survive without food, medicine, shelter, or any hope of rescue. As described by the organization, this is an attempt to eradicate life at its roots and strip the Palestinian people of their right to a dignified existence.
Terrifying Statistics as of July 23, 2025
Documented by SHIELD’s field teams in cooperation with the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics and international humanitarian organizations:
- 59,219 killed
- 143,045 wounded — most of them women, children, and the elderly.
Breakdown of fatalities:
- 12,400 women
- 18,000 children
- 3,853 elderly
- 4,700 missing, including 1,000 children
- 11,200 still unaccounted for — either under rubble or in unknown conditions
- 40,000 children orphaned
- 2,500 cases of permanent disability from severe injuries and banned weapons
- 1,411 enforced disappearances
Victims of deliberate targeting:
- 228 journalists and media workers — many killed with family members in apparent efforts to silence the truth.
- 1,411 medical personnel — killed during rescue operations, in violation of all protections under international law.
- 113 civil defense workers perished while saving lives under fire.
- 203 UNRWA staff — despite sheltering in UN facilities.
- 800 educators — including school principals and teachers- were killed during their duties or while sheltering.
Field Executions and Systematic Targeting of Civilians
The organization documented cold-blooded field executions of ambulance and civil defense teams after surrender or during missions. Systematic targeting of journalists and media centers was also reported, reflecting a calculated policy of terror and censorship meant to obscure the truth and erase evidence.
SHIELD emphasizes that these statistics are not mere numbers — they constitute overwhelming evidence of crimes against humanity and war crimes, demanding immediate accountability and international sanctions.
Deafening Silence: International Complicity in Genocide
In its official statement, SHIELD condemned the global silence, calling it not just negligence, but active complicity:
“What we are witnessing is not merely inaction — it is outright collusion by certain governments that continue to supply Israel with weapons, political support, and diplomatic cover, despite the atrocities being committed in full view of the world.
These crimes will not be forgotten. Silence is a disgrace upon humanity and a betrayal of the very principles enshrined in international law and the UN Charter.”
SHIELD asserts that this silence implicates donor countries and supporters legally, morally, and historically in the atrocities being carried out against Palestinian civilians.
Demands by the International Congress SHIELD:
- Immediate cessation of the aggression and the genocide in Gaza.
- Full and unconditional opening of all crossings to allow humanitarian aid.
- Urgent, independent international investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity.
- The imposition of strict international sanctions on Israel, including an arms embargo.
- Accountability for complicit governments, both politically and militarily.
- Legal prosecution of individuals, companies, and institutions involved in supporting, funding, or facilitating these crimes.
- Establishment of secure humanitarian corridors to evacuate the wounded and protect the remaining civilian population.
