Nothing weakens a person and undermines their ability to contribute, create, and build a better future more than oppression caused by poverty, hunger, fear, illness, ignorance, underdevelopment, and the deprivation of fundamental rights. When individuals lose their sense of security and dignity, their sense of belonging diminishes, and their capacity for creativity and participation in the development of their communities declines.
Guided by its humanitarian and human rights mission, the International Congress SHIELD calls for strengthening the values of solidarity and cooperation among peoples and societies in order to protect human dignity, safeguard freedom, and promote shared responsibility in advancing and protecting human rights. The organization also advocates for strengthening accountability, justice, and the fight against impunity.
Human dignity is one of the most fundamental principles of human rights. It is an inherent right that belongs to every individual and cannot be diminished or denied under any circumstances. Therefore, all policies, practices, and forms of conduct should be based on respect for human dignity and the protection of individual rights. Every person should uphold and respect the dignity of others in all human interactions and relationships.
Violations of human dignity, including humiliation, degradation, and discrimination, weaken the sense of national and social belonging, fuel hatred and hostility, and undermine the foundations of coexistence and stability within societies.
The International Congress SHIELD firmly believes that respecting and preserving human dignity is the cornerstone of social stability and sustainable development. Societies that protect the dignity of their people are better equipped to achieve progress, prosperity, and a future founded on justice, equality, and peace.
