The International Congress Shield issues an urgent humanitarian appeal to the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian and human rights organizations to take immediate action in support of more than 1.6 million displaced and forcibly uprooted people in Lebanon as a result of the ongoing military escalation and its severe humanitarian consequences.
Lebanon is facing a worsening humanitarian crisis as continued military operations have resulted in thousands of casualties, including the dead and injured, in addition to large-scale displacement affecting numerous regions. The conflict has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, healthcare facilities, public services, and essential means of living.
The International Congress Shield considers the forced evacuation and displacement of civilians under the threat of military operations and bombardment to be a serious violation of international humanitarian law and the principles of the Geneva Conventions. The organization stresses that protecting civilians and guaranteeing their right to remain safely in their homes or return to their communities must be a priority for the international community.
The suffering of displaced families continues to intensify due to severe shortages of shelter, food, clean water, and healthcare services. Children, women, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable under these difficult humanitarian conditions. The crisis has also generated increasing economic and social pressures that have exhausted the limited resources of affected families.
The International Congress Shield expresses its deep concern over the continuation of this humanitarian tragedy and calls upon all international and regional actors to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by providing urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected.
The organization further reiterates its firm position calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to military hostilities, and the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and the protection of innocent civilians from further suffering.
Protecting human life and preserving human dignity must remain above all other considerations. Ending the suffering of innocent civilians is a shared humanitarian responsibility that requires immediate action before it is too late.
