Nuclear disarmament is an international responsibility to protect life, the environment, and ensure a safe future for generations to come
On the occasion of the International Day against Nuclear Tests, observed annually on August 29, the International Congress Shield affirms that destructive nuclear tests constitute a serious threat to human rights and a grave violation of the right to life, a healthy environment, and human dignity. They also contribute to environmental degradation and the long-term contamination of ecosystems.
The organization condemns the continuation of activities that cross borders and threaten present and future generations. It calls for immediate steps toward reducing nuclear arsenals and their complete elimination, while strengthening international monitoring, accountability, and compliance mechanisms to prevent practices that directly endanger human and environmental security and to help ensure a safer future for our planet.
