The West Bank Under Forced Displacement: International Congress Shield Calls on the World to Stop Annexation and Settlement Policies
Ethnic Cleansing and Creeping Annexation in the West Bank: International Silence Deepens Palestinian Suffering
International Congress Shield is following with deep concern the dangerous escalation taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the West Bank, where measures aimed at displacing Palestinians from their lands and expanding control over continue to accelerate in clear violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
International human rights reports indicate an unprecedented rise in land confiscation, settlement expansion, and the forced displacement of Palestinian communities, especially in rural and Bedouin areas, the Jordan Valley, and the South Hebron Hills. These actions threaten the Palestinian presence and undermine the prospects for peace and stability in the region.
What is taking place today cannot be viewed as isolated incidents or individual acts carried out by extremist settlers. Rather, it reflects a systematic policy accompanied by the expansion of settlement outposts and increasing attacks against Palestinian civilians, their property, and agricultural lands, amid the continued absence of effective legal accountability.
These policies have led to the displacement of thousands of Palestinians from their traditional communities and deprived them of access to their livelihoods, water resources, and agricultural lands, while also creating an atmosphere of fear and instability that threatens the social and humanitarian fabric of Palestinian society.
International Congress Shield affirms that the forced displacement of civilians and the confiscation of land under occupation constitute grave violations of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law. Furthermore, any measures aimed at altering the demographic or geographic reality of occupied territories are null, void, and illegal under international law.
The organization also expresses serious concern over the escalation of violence and attacks targeting Palestinian civilians, including home demolitions, destruction of infrastructure, and restrictions on movement and access, all of which deepen the humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories.
International Congress Shield warns that the continuation of these policies without decisive international intervention may lead to further forced displacement, increased tension, and regional instability, while undermining international efforts aimed at protecting human rights and maintaining international peace and security.
The organization calls on the international community, the United Nations, the European Union, and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to take immediate and effective measures to:
• Protect Palestinian civilians and ensure their right to remain on their lands and in their communities.
• Halt all settlement activities and measures aimed at changing the demographic and geographic reality of the occupied territories.
• Ensure legal accountability for all violations committed against the civilian population.
• Support international efforts to protect human rights and enforce international humanitarian law.
• Provide international protection for Palestinian communities threatened with forced displacement.
Respect for international law and the protection of civilians must remain a priority for the international community. The continued suffering of Palestinians and the denial of their fundamental rights will only lead to greater tension and instability, while justice, human dignity, and equal rights remain the only path toward a just and lasting peace.
