Human dignity constitutes the fundamental principle and cornerstone from which all rights and freedoms originate. It is not a privilege granted by laws, but an inherent quality possessed by every human being from birth. From this perspective, the International Congress SHIELD affirms that safeguarding human dignity is the primary guarantee for achieving social peace and comprehensive justice.
A genuine system of justice cannot exist in a society where the dignity of its people is violated. Justice requires protecting individuals from poverty, fear, and oppression, while ensuring a legal environment that guarantees fairness, integrity, and equality before the law without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or social background. Justice without dignity is merely a collection of rigid texts, while dignity without justice becomes a vulnerable and violated right.
Human and cultural diversity is a source of richness and strength for societies. True equality does not mean eliminating differences among people; rather, it means ensuring equal opportunities and protecting rights within the framework of diversity. When legal and social systems uphold the principle of equality, diversity becomes a positive force that promotes growth, stability, coexistence, mutual understanding, and respect among all members of society.
As part of its humanitarian and human rights mission, the International Congress SHIELD is committed to promoting these principles through raising awareness of human rights, enhancing public understanding of rights, responsibilities, and international conventions, monitoring and documenting violations affecting fundamental rights and freedoms, and providing advocacy and support for individuals and communities most vulnerable to marginalization and abuse.
Protecting rights and freedoms is not merely a slogan; it is a daily practice that begins with recognizing the right of others to live in dignity and respecting their humanity without discrimination or exclusion. Therefore, the International Congress SHIELD calls for stronger local and international cooperation to reinforce the principles of justice, equality, and respect for human rights, ensuring that human dignity remains a red line and a guiding principle for all laws, policies, and practices.
